The show took place in Blake Hall Barns where weddings and receptions also take place. Blake Hall itself can be used as a backdrop for wedding photographs with the bridal party and is a very impressive sight.

The show organised by The Main Event Company was quite busy with lots of visitors making enquiries.

The wedding show had lots of excellent suppliers and there was a real buzz of interest around all the stands.

It was also great weather so visitors could take a proper look around the grounds at the Reid Rooms.

These are just some of the supplier who were exhibiting on the day, including Blushing Brides, professional hair and make-up.

Aristocars of Billericay,  vintage wedding car hire specialists.

Essence Duo, a live band and wedding entertainment act.

There were two florists, the first was Poppies Flowers, contemporary floral design.

Fleur de Lys, Bridal.

Mc Phee’s Fountains of Chocolate, this was a very busy stand indeed.

The 2nd of the two florists was Joy Flowers, design leaders in flowers and gifts.

Fantasy Balloon Service, who can supply a whole range of wedding accessories including the candy bar.

My good friends at Piano DJ were also there aswell as Streakless specialists in spray tanning. It was a really great show and I look forward to meeting many of the couples who made enquiries about my photography services.

The beginning…
Fate played a hand in bringing Nicole and Tim together on a night out in Southend with mutual friends. Nicole was in her last year of studying at Warwick University while Tim was preparing to go travelling when they met four years ago.

Nicole remembers: “I wasn’t looking for a relationship, but Tim gave up his travelling to stay with me.
“We did a lot of travelling backwards and forwards in those first few months while I finished university. I came home to Tim most weekends.”

It was on holiday in the south of France a year ago when Tim popped the question. Nicole said: “We decided to go out on our bikes one day for a picnic when Tim said he had a little treat for me. It was a bottle of Champagne and he had had a label printed on it which said ‘Nicole, will you marry me?’. He had bought a ring and everything! Everyone knew, but me. There was even an engagement party planned for when we got home. “It was the perfect proposal.”

Two weeks before the wedding, Nicole was taken for a gangster-themed girlie weekend to Newcastle with 14 friends where they shopped, toured around the bars and went to a cabaret night. Her friends overwhelmed Nicole by putting together a book with personal messages to the bride-to-be.
Tim, meanwhile, and 25 stags headed to Bournemouth where he was dressed in small clothes and swimming goggles for a bar crawl.

The big day…
The wedding was planned within a year, with Nicole and Tim’s friends and family lending a hand to get things organised. The couple knew they wanted a marquee which narrowed down their options for a venue. But Nicole said: “As soon as we went to see Creeksea Place, we instantly fell in love with it. We felt really comfortable there and knew we wanted our wedding in the walled garden of the Tudor mansion.”

Nicole’s hunt for the perfect dress saw her try on more than 25 before success.
She said: “I always believed I’d know the instant I put on The dress. Every dress I tried was ‘nice’, but not special enough. “When I tried on my dress, I took ten steps outside of the shop before turning around and going back and buying it!” Nicole’s Clemence by Venus ivory strapless dress was fitted to the waist with a long train and small jewels. She found it in Divine Gowns, in Chelmsford, where she also bought the three bridesmaids’ sage green dresses.

Nicole, the mums and her bridesmaids – best friend Emma, cousin Laura and Tim’s sister Kate – spent the night before the wedding at Five Lakes Hotel where they got in the spirit of the occasion with a Champagne picnic, followed by a family meal in the evening. Two coach loads of guests were then taken on the morning of the wedding to Creeksea Place.

The wedding had a fresh sage green and white theme. Nicole carried a long bouquet of orchids and white roses, the three bridesmaids had smaller posies while the venue was decorated with white roses, lilies and orchids.

A string quartet played Pachabels Canon as Nicole’s brother Danny walked her down the aisle in the walled garden, watched by 113 guests, many of whom had travelled from Australia, Germany and America to share the day. Tim’s mum, Sue, did the couple proud by reading out poem The Wish during the ceremony.

Tim was supported on the day by his three best men – Paul, Pete and Mahben. As all three are special to Tim, he could not pick between them and instead gave them all the prestigious job. Nicole said: “My brother and I are extremely close to each other so it meant everything to me to have him walk me down the aisle. “He had never been to a wedding before so he was surprised by the emotion of the day. “We shared a glass of Champagne in the car before the ceremony which was a really special moment for me.”

The party had drinks on the lawn while the photographs were taken, before moving into the marquee for the wedding breakfast of Middle Eastern salad to start, beef wellington for main, followed by banoffee pie and cream-filled chocolate cups, tea and coffee. Another 80 guests joined the evening celebration where curry, an Indian selection, a seafood platter, salad and pasta were served.

Special little touches at the reception included black and white photos of the couple with their guests on the tables along with a wish jar encouraging guests to write down their wishes for the couple. Pens with Nicole and Tim, Wedding, 22nd August 2009 written on them were left on the table for guests to use.
Women guests were delighted with the novel idea of a basket full of flip flops to replace their uncomfortable heels for dancing. Nicole said: “We put the flip flops in a wicker basket and urged the ladies to take them when their feet hurt. They were gone in 20 minutes!

“The wish jar was instead of a guest book so we could get a personal message from everyone. We enjoyed opening these the next morning more than the presents! Some made us cry with laughter and others with the amount of thought which had been put into them.” The favours were little boxes of sweets made by Nicole and Tim. The bridesmaids handed out discs at the end of the night in addressed envelopes to encourage guests to download their photos and send them to the couple so they could see the wedding through other people’s eyes.

The couple shared their first dance to Eric Clapton’s Wonderful Tonight.

Lasting memories…
After spending their wedding night at Five Lakes Hotel, the new Mr and Mrs Martin spent a day being pampered before jetting off to a Sandals resort in St Lucia for their two-week honeymoon. For Nicole, who had never been outside of Europe before, being looked after by two butlers was the icing on the top of a perfect honeymoon.

Looking back on the day, Nicole said: “Walking down the aisle was definitely one of those moments I’ll remember forever. And being in the car with my brother in the moments before was lovely.

“Tim and I had made a deal before the day that no matter what was happening, at 10pm on the night we would find each other and go for a walk on our own. Dead on 10pm, he came and found me with glasses of Champagne and we went and sat by the lake and looked back over our day. We were determined not to spend the day apart, as a lot of couples find. “I would not have changed a thing about our day. It was
perfect. We are lucky, so many people say they would’ve done things differently.”

Blake Hall is a fantastic wedding venue near North Weald and Ongar in Essex. The show had a healthy number of wedding suppliers and the visitor turnout was also very good.

This is the first wedding show I have exhibited at for quite some time and I found it to be very productive. I have another show coming up on 24th October at The Hunter’s Meet Wedding Show in Hatfield Heath which I am looking forward to!

Wedding Shows are a great way for potential Brides to meet face to face with lots of different suppliers.

How long will you be with us on our wedding day?

As it is an all day service, it means I will be with you from two hours before your wedding ceremony, right through to your first dance.

How many photographs do you take?

As I shoot in digital, there isn’t a specific limit to the number of photographs I take at a wedding. As a rough guide I normally take between 500-700 shots. These will be displayed on a password protected gallery web shop for you, your friends and family.
