Evening Party Photographs at Bush Hall, Hatfield, Hertfordshire
June 1, 2009 on 12:56 am | In Non-Wedding Events | No CommentsOn Friday I was asked to attend an evening party celebrating gradution from university. The guested were all from the University of Hertfordshire studying Physiotherapy. I am not just a wedding photographer for Herts and Essex, I can photograph all sorts of events. The evening party took place at Bush Hall which is also a great venue for wedding photography.
It was a fantastic evening with perfect blue skies and golden sunlight. I arrived a little bit early which gave me time to look around and capture some shots of Bush Hall as it has some wonderful gardens with a little stream flowing through.
I also noticed a Llama in the farm part of the estate and had to grab a snap. I haven’t taken a photo of a Llama for almost a week… you may recall my last wedding was at London Zoo!
The guests started to arrive and I took a mix of casual and posed photographs. I try to be unobtrusive and photograph people without them knowing. I am also on hand for people if they do want some posed groups or portraits.
There was also an acoustic band playing which really did add to the atmosphere so I grabbed a few shots too.
I do enjoy photographing this type of a event, especially when the weather is so great and the venue looks really picture perfect.
I tried to use the pond area for some of the portraits as this really did give a great look and feel to the photographs.
It was also a good opportunity for some of the girls to have some group shots with their friends.
After a few more shots we then went inside where the guests were about to have their meal and I captured a few shots of the room.
I had a great time capturing all the guests and the entire shoot only lasted about an hour. I had one last request from a guest celebrating his birthday before I left. If you would like me to photograph your wedding or event then please get in touch.

“Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby”
May 19, 2008 on 5:24 pm | In Non-Wedding Events | 2 CommentsNot wishing to turn down work on a Sunday, I attended a Ruby Wedding Anniversary at Fanham’s Hall in Ware (http://www.fanhamshallhotel.co.uk) and took my friend Cheryl along with me as an assistant. She has had some photographic experience in journalism so I left her snapping away merrily. The venue at Fanham’s is fantastic and boasts some of the best gardens in the county.
After a rather wet Saturday I was again surprised that the weather stayed dry and slightly overcast, which is great as it reduces those harsh shadows sometimes causes by harsh sunlight.
The beauty of having another photographer snapping away is that you can capture moments when people are most unaware or occupying themselves like this gem that Cheryl captured.
Margaret and Trevor were given my services as a present by their daughter Sally and she especially liked the natural style photographs like this one of the happy couple.
Fanham’s is also a great location for indoor photographs as the bar area is extremely well lit with natural daylight, which meant there was no need for flash and I was able to use my zoom. By there being two of us, it meant that people quickly became immune to our presence.
These kind of shots will really compliment the formal posed shots which were taken and would look great in a personally designed book.
It wouldn’t be an occasion without the cute grandchildren running around and hiding.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and managed to capture a really good coverage from the party and I hope that the couple are pleased with our results.
