Engagement shoot in Sydney, Australia
April 15, 2010 on 12:26 am | In Non-Wedding Events | 2 CommentsI am often asked how far am I willing to travel to shoot a wedding? Well last week I put this question to the test when I jetted to the other side of the world and arrived in Sydney, Australia.

I was asked over by Tandra and Matt to photograph their wedding, but as I had a few days to spare before the wedding I managed to persuade them to have a little engagement shoot and what better place to go, Sydney Harbour!

This was good for me as I got to do some sight seeing and they got used to me and my camera in time for their big day.

They quickly became very relaxed and I was able to get some really natural looking shots without too much forced posing… just the way I like to work!

After a few shots directly outside the Sydney Opera House we went for a walk around the Botanical Gardens.

It had been quite an overcast afternoon but there was beginning to be a slight break in the clouds.

I like the use of black and white shots for this kind of shoot as it really does add romance and can look more dramatic.

Even the simplist of back grounds can make a photograph interesting to unravel, these were taken infront of a small over hang off cliff face.

The afternoon’s weather just seemed to get better and we were in for a great surprise as the sun started to set.

As the sun was almost fully set the sky turned into an amazing oil painting of colour!

I had to take some shots of the harbour at night, unmissable!

I will be adding a blog article soon showcasing Tandra and Matt’s wedding in the Blue Mountains…

Photography At Wivenhoe House Hotel near Colchester
October 26, 2009 on 2:56 am | In Non-Wedding Events | No CommentsOn Saturday evening after the wedding show at Hunters Meet, I was requested to photographed Amber’s 30th Birthday Party at Wivenhoe House Hotel near Colchester.
I was really pleased to be asked to photograph this event as I had also photographed Amber’s wedding a couple of seasons back.
I visited the venue with Amber and her daughter a few weeks before and as it was a sunny day took some shots of them in the gardens.
Unfortunately as the party was an evening occasion we couldn’t use the gardens on the day of the party but we made the most of it whilst we were there.
Amber had requested that each couple have some photographs in the entrance hall as they arrived which certainly kept me busy.
Amber’s party kicked off with a DJ and also a live singer.
The children seemed to be enjoying the music and especially the dance floor!
Amber had an amazing chocolate cake and I was lucky enough to have taste too.
The Wivenhoe House House also host weddings as well as evening events.
I think I got a “thumbs up” for capturing all the fun from the party.

An Urban Photo Shoot
October 10, 2009 on 11:57 pm | In Non-Wedding Events | No CommentsToday I was asked to take some family portraits in Harlow for Keighley. I took a family group shot as per her request, but whilst I had some willing subjects I also wanted to try something a bit different too.
I wanted to try and capture some urban style photographs and found a cool looking backdrop for this.
I like the way a basic background like a wall for instance can produce really strong looking and stylish imagery.
I’m always keen to try out different ideas and techniques, and am pleased with the results.
