Celebrate with Cupcakes!
April 27, 2010 on 10:20 pm | In Wedding Shows and Magazines | No CommentsAt the Greenwood’s wedding show on Sunday I was asked by fellow show exhibitor Celebration Cupcakes (www.celebrationcupcake.com) if I could take a few shots of her offerings.

After sampling some of the cakes I can definitely recommend them!

There was also a gorgeous looking wedding cake…

Wedding Photography of a Hindu Ceremony
April 26, 2010 on 11:59 am | In Customer Weddings Revealed | No CommentsOn Saturday I was asked to photograph Ria and Andrew’s wedding alongside Steve my good friend and fellow wedding photographer.

The wedding took place in South London and my first port of call was the home the groom was leaving from.

The first wedding ceremony of the day was at Merton Registry office in Morden Park where the legal marriage was to take place.

After the ceremony we took some group shots and some natural expression shots.

It was then time to drive to Merton Hall in Wimbledon where the Hindu Ceremony took place. The groom had to buy his way into the ceremony.

The bride’s aunty welcomed the groom with a garland and escorted him to the mandap where the ceremony takes place, this known as Parchan (The Welcome).

The bride was escorted to the mandap by her family and then the main Hindu ceremony started.

After exchanging the flower garlands the couple took the seven steps around the fire known as Mangalfera.

They also had to put parched rice on the sacred fire which is called Laja homa.

The groom had to bless the bride by putting sindhur at the parting of her hair and giving her a sacred necklace.

The priest blessed the bride and groom and announced the ceremony complete.

As part of tradition the groom had to pay to get his shoe back.

The rest of the evening was like an English wedding with the traditional cutting of the cake, speeches and the first dance.

To round off the evening we set up a portrait studio and took lots of guest photographs.

Wedding Photography at Blake Hall near Ongar in Essex
April 22, 2010 on 7:39 pm | In Customer Weddings Revealed | No CommentsLast Saturday I photographed a special wedding for Sarah and Stuart as they won a competition I ran in conjunction with The Main Events Company at the Blake Hall Wedding Show back in October 2009. I was asked if I could photograph the pre-wedding moments and also the evening reception and speeches. Ofcourse this was not a problem and I arrived at the bride’s home nice and early capturing all the pre-wedding moments as they unfolded.

I then left the bridal party driving off towards the ceremony and caught up with them towards the end of the wedding breakfast in time for the speeches. The reception was held at Blake Hall which is an absolutely fantastic venue and the party took place in the barn which is great for photographs.

It was a beautifully clear evening and I knew we had to take advantage of the Essex sunset.

I was there on hand to capture the cutting of the cake and also the first dance.

Afterwards there was a little surprise for the bride and groom in the form of fireworks.

I had an amazing time photographing the pre-wedding moments and the evening party including lots of studio style evening portraits for the couple and their guests.

Just before I left there was one last shot to capture…
