The Spot Colour Digital Effect by RT Weddings

As a wedding photographer in Hertfordshire and Essex, I am always looking for ideas and after effects to make a good photograph have even more impact. This is an effect I can offer called the ‘spot colour’ effect. I take a normal colour photograph and convert it to black & white, but keeping certain areas of the shot in colour. This can work well on the flowers or confetti. See some actual samples below, customers have requested which show how it can be applied.

In the next shot I actually added the confetti to a shot without, this can help if churches or venues do not permit the use of confetti.

  1. I love this effect – it reminds me of Schindler’s List (the film) in which Stephen Spielberg picked out the girl in the red dress, with the rest of the film in black and white. It draws the eye beautifully and the couples must love it too.
