Wedding Photography at Rookery Manor, Weston-Super-Mare, in Somerset
September 28, 2009 on 9:50 pm | In Customer Weddings Revealed | No CommentsOn Friday I photographed Lisa & Graham’s wedding at Rookery Manor near Weston-Super-Mare in Somerset.
As you know by now if you read my blog regularly, not all my weddings are in Herts and Essex. I travelled to the West Country for this wedding and stopped off overnight in Bristol before arriving nice and early.
After saying my hello’s and taking a few shots with the girls I caught up with the boys.
Rookery Manor is a superb wedding venue with fantastic grounds and interiors. I then went back to finish my shots with the girls who were getting ready in the bridal suite.
The light in the room was just right for some pre-wedding shots.
It was then time for the ceremony, it was quite a late one starting at 4.30pm.
I captured the ceremony and signing, before taking the formal group shots and some natural and casual shots outside.
I then took the couple around the grounds for some romantic photographs, we really made the most of this as the sun was beginning to get low in the sky.
There was an archway which really looked fantastic.
There was a gate at the farm opposite which had an amazing backdrop.
Just a few more shots, include a Romeo & Juliet shot suggested by the groom.
Everyone then went inside for the speeches. The colours inside the banquetting hall were so vibrant.
I did find the speeches entertaining along with the guests who were all laughing hard.
It was time for the first dance and a live band played along.
The band called ‘Reoffender’ were excellent and they played a good mix of songs, old and new.
The confetti shot was a little different as the venue didn’t want us to do it outside…
I had great fun photographing Lisa & Graham’s wedding. If you would like me to photograph yours then please do get in touch. There was one more shot to get before I left.

Wedding Photography at Quendon Park at Parklands in Essex
September 28, 2009 on 3:18 pm | In Customer Weddings Revealed | No CommentsA couple of weeks ago I photographed this wedding for Louise and Paul and Quendon Park, Parklands near Stansted in Essex.
I took Sean, a second photographer along with me to capture some extra candid shots and assist during the day.
Quendon Park or Parklands is a great wedding venue with fantastic grounds and the indoor locations are also good. I arrived nice and early and captured the pre-wedding moments.
The bride looked stunning in her dress and I caught this moment as she made her way towards the outdoor ceremony.
It was a really hot and sunny September afternoon and having it take place outside made it all the more special for the couple.
I managed to get a nice aerial group shot of the wedding party and you can see the amazing countryside surrounding the venue.
I took the couple around for some romantic photographs utilising some of the features at Parklands.
After the meal and speeches we went for another little walk.
There was time for a couple more shots outdoors before we went to cut the cake.
I noticed the red wallpaper in the hall and had to grab a couple of photos, then it was time for the first dance.
One last night shot and it was time to finish. I can offer a two photographer service on most weddings for a very reasonable rate, please see my website for pricing information.

Wedding Photography at Watergate Bay Hotel, near Newquay, Cornwall
September 24, 2009 on 12:54 pm | In Customer Weddings Revealed | 1 CommentThis summer has been really busy for me which is great, but has meant I have got a bit backlogged in writing my blog. A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to photograph this wedding at the Watergate Bay Hotel, near Newquay in Cornwall for Sarah and James and took my good friend Martyn along with me to capture some additional candid moments.
This was a special wedding for me personally as some of my family were going to be there. Watergate Bay is a popular haven for surfers and the groom is one of them. We arrived the day before the wedding to have a good look around and also did an engagement shoot with the couple.
Sarah and James wanted a lot of casual and natural shots on their day as opposed to lots of formally posed shots. The morning of the wedding was perfect, blue skies, warm and the groom and his friend went for an early morning surf!
Martyn entertained the guys whilst I went to the salon… he even waded into the sea up to his waist to get some of the action shots!
The salon was a short drive away and I captured the girls having their hair done before returning to the hotel for the make-up.
The ceremony took place in the function room at the hotel overlooking the bay, amazing views!
After the ceremony we popped outside into the sunshine for a couple of group photographs.
After some aperitifs it was then time for the bride and grooms romantic shoot using the beach and hotel.
The beach made a great backdrop for wedding photographs.
The couple had asked for some special shots on the day including a sunglasses reflection shot.
We did a few more shots on the beach before heading back to the hotel.
Another special shot by request was this one of the bride in her huge bath over looking the bay!
It was then time for the meal and some more candid shots.
There was just time for the cutting of the cake and some shots of the first dance before we made the trip home.
Watergate Bay certainly does get some amazing sunsets, heres a shot of the couple and friends making shapes in the sunlight. If you would like me to photograph your wedding then please do get in touch.
