Wedding Photography at Sopwell House Hotel and Sandridgebury Farm, near St Albans in Herts
August 19, 2009 on 12:23 am | In Weddings Revealed |On Saturday I photographed a wedding for Martha and Nick at Sopwell House Hotel near St Albans, St Mary’s Church in Welwyn Village and Sandridgebury Farm near St Albans. Both the bride and groom were getting ready at Sopwell House Hotel, and it is a super venue for wedding photography.
While the bride was getting ready I captured some shots with the groom and the boys.
There are some great gardens at Sopwell House Hotel including a Japanese garden with a pond and red bridge.
The boys then left for the church and it was time to meet up with the bride for some photographs, and she did look fabulous!
There are some small cottages at the hotel which can be used for getting ready, and they are surrounded by lovely gardens too.
We then took the short drive to St Mary’s Church in Welwyn Village. I spoke with the Priest to find out the rules for photography during the service. Unfortunately I had to photograph from the rear of the church which did mean I couldn’t capture the expression through-out the vows from the front but I did get a nice shot of the bride’s entrance.
After capturing the signing of the registry and some group shots outside the church I then had some time to get some more natural and casual shots.
After a few more shots it was time to take the journey to Sandridgebury Farm.
The couple had a large marquee in a field and it did look amazing.
I found a nice location to take the large group shots and then went back into candid mode.
I saw a group of kids sat on the fence and had to take a shot of it.
It was time for the wedding meal, the cutting of the cake, the speeches and ofcourse the first dance.
Although there wasn’t a sunset, there was a very dramatic sky with a tint of colour.
I had great fun photographing Martha and Nick’s wedding day. If you would like me to photograph your wedding, please get in touch.

Nice shots. I’m not able to prepare the portrait posed. I would like to learn how to do the posed shots during the wedding.
