Wedding Photography at the Lawn, Rochford, Essex
June 15, 2009 on 3:08 pm | In Customer Weddings Revealed | 2 CommentsAs a wedding photographer for Essex, on Friday I photographed a wedding at The Lawn in Rochford, Essex. My friend Steve, a fellow photographer came along as second photographer which was great as we do work well together. The wedding was for Vicki & John and all the photography took place at the one location.
The Lawn in Rochford is great venue for a wedding as it has fantastic grounds and is also great inside the house too. The coverage was from 2 hours before the ceremony so I captured all the details that symbolised the wedding as well as the Bride and Bridesmaids getting ready.
In the main hall there is a balcony overlooking the room, offering lovely side lit shots using natural and available light.
It wasn’t long before the Groom and the boys arrived in a large stretched limousine. The Bride and Groom had their baby boy Cameron as a page boy and he was very photogenic. There were lots of children at the wedding so I made sure I took lots of photos of them for the families.
The ceremony began and I perched upfront to capture the Bride’s entrance and the expression throughout the ceremony.
I captured the signing of the register and then we all went outside and drinks were being service. I like to let the couple have a few minutes to greet and meet their guests before we start on the formal photographs. This allows everyone to relax and I can capture a few candid shots at this time.
With the help of Steve and the familiar face of David Mills the resident toastmaster we capture a lovely aerial group shot and I captured this lovely photo of all the guests looking up. I worked with David recently at a wedding I photographed at Lords Golf Club.
I do enjoy taking wedding photographs and usually provide a mix of formally posed, natural and casual looking photographs based on the couple’s requirements. We gave the couple another short break to socialise then we took them around for a few romantic shots utilising the lovely grounds.
Having the time to capture some romantic shots really does add to the wedding photographs and I would recommend you allow between 1hour 30mins and 2 hours between the end of the ceremony and the receiving line. This means that you will have time to socialise and also to have photographs done without feeling too rushed. It was then time to go in for the meal and speeches.
The weather was fantastic all day and after the meal the guests sat out and made the most of it. On the day working alongside us were the videographers from Rideout Productions who were great and very easy to work with.
After a few more candid shots it was time to cut the cake and have the first dance. The DJ for the evenings entertainment played piano and was accompanied by a singer, which made for a great first dance, they were called “Essence Duo” (http://www.essenceduo.com/).
It was almost time to leave, but we asked the couple if they would like one last shot before we departed and I don’t think they will be disappointed. I had a great time photographing Vicki & John’s wedding and it was fun working with Steve again.

Pre-wedding visit to The Lawn, Rochford, Essex
June 2, 2009 on 7:54 pm | In General Information | No CommentsToday I went to a wedding venue called ‘The Lawn’ in Rochford, Essex for a pre-wedding visit for a wedding I have taking place there in the next few weeks.
The Lawn boasts some fantastic grounds with a fountain, lots of trees and even a secret garden.
After seeing this venue, I am really excited about photographing the wedding here and only hope the weather will be a lovely as it was today.
There are some great outdoor areas including the terrace with these lovely collumns and an outdoor bar area where the reception drinks will take place. Inside the house is a huge reception room with a balcony overlooking where the ceremony and wedding breakfast will be and a beautiful archway through to the staircase.
I look forward to photographing the wedding and posting a ‘Weddings Revealed’ article about it soon.

Wedding Photography at Gilwell Park, Chingford, Essex
June 1, 2009 on 12:36 pm | In Customer Weddings Revealed | No CommentsOn Saturday I photographed a wedding which took place at Walthamstow Registry Office and then on to Gilwell Park in Chingford, Essex. As a wedding photographer for Hertfordshire and Essex, I was very excited about photographing this wedding for Symone and Andy, as I’d not worked at Gilwell Park before. The weather forecast was for sunshine and blue skies!
I arrived at the Bride’s parents’ home nice and early to avoid any traffic delays. I captured this lovely portrait of the flower girl using natural light on the stairs.
I captured all the details, flowers and shoes, before taking a few shots of the Bride and her family. I then went on to Walthamstow Registry which was about 15 minutes drive, where I capture the pre-wedding activity and the Bride’s arrival and she looked fabulous!
Walthamstow Registry has a great wedding suite and also some lovely gardens, which was a good surprise for me as it really did exceed all my expectations.
I took a few group photographs at the registry office and the confetti shots before moving on to Gilwell Park.
Gilwell Park was about a 20 minute drive from Walthamstow and is surrounded by trees and fields, the perfect setting for a wedding.
We had our 2nd ceremony of the day, this time it was a blessing as Gilwell Park could hold a lot more guests than the registry office.
After the ceremony I captured some more casual shots, another aerial group shot and some photographs with the Groom and Groomsmen.
I captured the wedding breakfast room laid out, all the details and the speeches. Then it was time to cut the cake and took the couple around for some romantic shots.
I noticed some golden sunlight just shinning through the trees as the sun started to go down and couldn’t resist taking this lovely shot.
We had time for a few more photographs before the couple’s first dance. I was really impressed with their dance routine and it was truly one of the best I’ve seen.
I had an awesome day photographing Symone and Andy’s wedding, if you would like me to capture the whole story of your wedding day then please do get in touch.
