Wedding Photography at the Lawn, Rochford, Essex
June 15, 2009 on 3:08 pm | In Weddings Revealed |As a wedding photographer for Essex, on Friday I photographed a wedding at The Lawn in Rochford, Essex. My friend Steve, a fellow photographer came along as second photographer which was great as we do work well together. The wedding was for Vicki & John and all the photography took place at the one location.
The Lawn in Rochford is great venue for a wedding as it has fantastic grounds and is also great inside the house too. The coverage was from 2 hours before the ceremony so I captured all the details that symbolised the wedding as well as the Bride and Bridesmaids getting ready.
In the main hall there is a balcony overlooking the room, offering lovely side lit shots using natural and available light.
It wasn’t long before the Groom and the boys arrived in a large stretched limousine. The Bride and Groom had their baby boy Cameron as a page boy and he was very photogenic. There were lots of children at the wedding so I made sure I took lots of photos of them for the families.
The ceremony began and I perched upfront to capture the Bride’s entrance and the expression throughout the ceremony.
I captured the signing of the register and then we all went outside and drinks were being service. I like to let the couple have a few minutes to greet and meet their guests before we start on the formal photographs. This allows everyone to relax and I can capture a few candid shots at this time.
With the help of Steve and the familiar face of David Mills the resident toastmaster we capture a lovely aerial group shot and I captured this lovely photo of all the guests looking up. I worked with David recently at a wedding I photographed at Lords Golf Club.
I do enjoy taking wedding photographs and usually provide a mix of formally posed, natural and casual looking photographs based on the couple’s requirements. We gave the couple another short break to socialise then we took them around for a few romantic shots utilising the lovely grounds.
Having the time to capture some romantic shots really does add to the wedding photographs and I would recommend you allow between 1hour 30mins and 2 hours between the end of the ceremony and the receiving line. This means that you will have time to socialise and also to have photographs done without feeling too rushed. It was then time to go in for the meal and speeches.
The weather was fantastic all day and after the meal the guests sat out and made the most of it. On the day working alongside us were the videographers from Rideout Productions who were great and very easy to work with.
After a few more candid shots it was time to cut the cake and have the first dance. The DJ for the evenings entertainment played piano and was accompanied by a singer, which made for a great first dance, they were called “Essence Duo” (http://www.essenceduo.com/).
It was almost time to leave, but we asked the couple if they would like one last shot before we departed and I don’t think they will be disappointed. I had a great time photographing Vicki & John’s wedding and it was fun working with Steve again.
