Wedding Photography at London Zoo, Regents Park, London

On Saturday I was lucky enough to photograph a wedding at London Zoo, Regents Park in the centre of London. I was 2nd photographer for my good friend Steve and my challenge was to capture the expression from the day whilst he concentrated on the more formal and posed moments. The couple, Tracy and David were really fun to work with and wanted to get the most out of the unusual setting of the Zoo for their wedding.

We arrived nice and early, as travelling through London can be a bit of a gamble at times. The couple had the services of Robert Persell, professional Toastmaster for the day and he was very accommodating, and also good fun too. It wasn’t long before the guests started arriving and the proceedings were well under way.

My role was to capture the natural moments through out the day and be on the look out for any photo opportunities.

The ceremony took place in the Prince Albert Suite which has it’s own private terrace and lawn area for the formal photographs afterwards.

After the group photographs the couple had requested that we went on a little tour of the zoo with them. We couldn’t resist some shots on the merry-go-round, I had to hang on for dear life whilst capturing these action shots… who said it was safe job? The couple also headed for the bouncy castle, they were enjoying the zoo facilities!

Ofcourse it wouldn’t be a day at the zoo without seeing some animals.

After a leisurely tour and seeing lots of animals and birds, we headed back for the wedding breakfast.

The caterers had laid on a fantastic barbecue buffet which everyone seemed to enjoy, including myself and Steve. After the meal we took the couple around for a few more photographs of just the two of them and it also gave them some time alone.

It was then time for the first dance, with a surprise finale and then the party started.

Wedding Photography at the Marriot Hotel, Bexleyheath, Kent

May 19, 2009 on 4:43 pm | In Customer Weddings Revealed | 3 Comments

On Saturday I photographed a wedding in Kent for my good friend Steve, a fellow photographer. He asked if I could be the 2nd photographer alongside him and concentrate on capturing the natural moments throughout the day. The couple, Joanne and Paul were getting married at St. John’s Church in Welling, Kent and then on to the Marriot Hotel at Bexleyheath in Kent.

We arrived nice and early and took a look around the church before anyone had arrived and picked out a few suitable locations for photographic opportunities later in the day. Steve went to the brides home to cover the pre-wedding shoot and I waited at the church to capture the groom and guests arriving.

The couple’s two young children played a large part in the wedding day with their son as the ring bearer and their daughter was the flower girl. The couple also had a wedding planner, Lester Gethings (No.10 Wedding Design & Management) who was great to work with and was very organised throughout the day making sure everything ran smoothly for the couple.

The bride arrived and the ceremony went smoothly. The vicar was excellent and prior to the ceremony had discussed the rules of the church regarding photography, and there were none! I turned the flash off as a matter of course as I don’t want to distract the couple from the service itself.

After the service we took some photographs outside the church. The location was good for the group shots and again I concentrated on the casual moments.

Just the other side of the church was a public park with a small avenue of trees, and from the right angles it gave the impression we were in the middle of a forrest.

I do like adding a few black and white photographs into the mix as they really do give a strong presence and stylish look.

We then went on to the wedding venue, which was the Marriot Hotel in Bexley Heath, Kent. The venue has a great interior but the external grounds are extremely limited, which is why we did most of the outdoor shots at the church.

I really do enjoy taking the casual and natural photographs, and normally with my RT Weddings services do this along with the traditional posed shots as well.

It was time for the wedding breakfast, where I always capture a shot of the head table using my special fisheye lens, looks great as a black and white.

newman_027.jpg

After the meal the groom entertained the children at the wedding and we all had a bit of fun with the pictures. We also took the couple for some extra photographs around the hotel.

We stayed for the cutting of the cake, right through to the first dance. The couple were great to work for and I enjoyed capturing all the casual moments for Steve. If you book your wedding photography through RT Weddings, then for as little as £200 extra, you can have an additional photographer assist in capturing your day.

New magazine adverts to compliment the website look and feel

May 18, 2009 on 1:40 pm | In Wedding Shows and Magazines | No Comments

As you may have noticed, the RT Weddings website has had a recent make-over to give it a positive and fresh new look. Now that I am happy with the style I have decided to push the branding across all other business development media including my magazine advertising and my customer presentation. The design is clean, simple and will allow me to change the photographs on each issue without altering the style.

Above is the new half page advert and below is the quarter page version which is less word intensive and utilises more imagery for immediate impact. To see how far the advert designs have evolved take a look at some of my older adverts.

I have decided to go with the tag line “Create memories that last a life time” as in one line it represents all I am trying to do as a business. This was recently used in some editorials which were written about me in regional newspapers (see below).

I have used the full copy of this article on my about page on the main RT Weddings website. Below is the new customer presentation, website design and half page advert.
