Wedding Photography at Hunters Meet in Hatfield Heath, Essex

September 30, 2008 on 4:04 pm | In Customer Weddings Revealed | No Comments

Last Saturday I was asked by a good friend and fellow professional photographer Steve if I could be the 2nd photographer for a wedding he was shooting. Ofcourse I jumped at the challenge as we have worked alongside each other on a number of weddings and we both have a great rapport with everbody on the day. This wedding was for Kelly and David and took place at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Magdalen Laver, near Ongar in Essex.

Magdalen Laver is a tiny village between Harlow and Ongar and is a hidden gem. The church is located at the end of a long private lane and there were lots of photo opportunities. Whilst Steve was covering the Bride’s home pre-wedding shoot I met up with the Groom and the guys at the church for some extra photographs.

The Reverend was very accommodating and welcomed our prescence during the ceremony as long as we were intrusive. I stayed upfront during the ceremony to capture the expression of the service. I was also able to try out my new fisheye lens.

Steve covered the traditional and formal photographs after the ceremony and I had a little bit of fun capturing some casual photographs highlighting the joy and happy expressions from the day.

We couldn’t resist asking the Bride to spin around on the spot as this really does show off the dress and make for some beautiful photographs, especially as the backdrop was really stunning.

The couple were great, and really willing to take part in achieving some great shots. I also threw in an old favourite of mine, all the boys crowded around in a circle with me led on the ground shooting upwards (it always gets a smile!).

The wedding reception took place at Hunters Meet in Hatfield Health, near Bishop’s Stortford and was a great setting for the meal and speeches. The manager of the venue was really great and ensured we were both fed and watered!

I had a great day at Kelly and David’s wedding and really look forward to working alongside Steve again soon. As a wedding photographer in Herts and Essex, it was a great opportunity to photograph at a different church and venue. If you would like a dual photographer service on your wedding then please get in touch. I can offer this additional service to any of my packages at a very reasonable rate, and it certainly increases the coverage of your wedding.

Wedding Photography at The Grange Country House, Northwood, Middlesex

After my trip away photographing a wedding in Sorrento, I was quickly back to photographing another wedding, this time in Middlesex. As a wedding photographer in Hertfordshire I am always happy to travel out of area for my commissions and this one for Janice and Steven started at the Premier Inn, Wembley Park.

I arrived nice and early because you never know how bad the traffic will be around Wembley on a Saturday morning, on the plus side this also meant I could capture lots of pre-wedding shots.

mckenzie_064.jpg mckenzie_102.jpg mckenzie_070.jpg mckenzie_039.jpg

The ceremony took place at the Methodist Church, Park Lane, Wembley and was just minutes away from the Premier Inn. The bride was ofcourse stylishly late, keeping the groom on his toes!

The Reverend taking the ceremony was Bob Pritchard and was very accommodating with regards to photography during the service. I was able to move around between readings and capture lots of angles and close ups.

After the ceremony we all headed off to the reception which was being held at the Grange Country House, Northwood, about 40 minutes away. The couple had use of the house, the gardens, as well as a large marquee where the wedding breakfast took place.

Once all the guests had arrived I completed the traditional group shots in record timing, to ensure it was just in time for the receiving line and serving up time, (as an earlier delay had unfortunately shortened the photography window). This wasn’t too much of a problem because with all my weddings I photograph beyond the speeches, right through to the first dance.

I do enjoy capturing the natural photographs as they really do tell the story of the wedding day.

Just before leaving I noticed an uplit archway at the side of the house and couldn’t resist taking a couple of romantic shots with Janice and Steven.

I really enjoyed photographing Janice and Steven’s wedding day and if you would like me to photograph yours then please get in touch! All of my prices and packages are listed on my website.

Wedding Photography in Sorrento, Italy

September 21, 2008 on 7:57 pm | In Customer Weddings Revealed | 1 Comment

As a wedding photographer in Herts and Essex I am really excited to be asked to photograph a wedding abroad, especially when it is in such a beautiful setting as Sorrento, near Napoli, Italy. Tim and Vicky were such a great couple to work with and I feel I have captured a good selection of photographs which really tell the story of their wedding day.

If you have never been to Sorrento then don’t do what I did, which was to plug in my satnav in the hire car when I arrived at Napoli. The journey from Napoli to Sorrento should take approximately an hour and quarter, which the satnav confirmed. Unfortunately when arriving in Sorrento the majority of roads are extremely tight (suitable for walking or mopeds) and the satnav may try and find your hotel via these impossible routes. This added about an hour onto the journey, so take a map instead!

After doing a recky with Tim and Vicky the day before the wedding and ensuring I had all my journeys planned out, I was able to relax and sample some of the local food and fine restaurants. The wedding day started at the Hilton Hotel in Sorrento where the bride and groom were getting ready on separate floors. The Hilton does have a nice garden area to take some pre-wedding photographs.

The ceremony took place a short journey away in the Church of San Francesco which made for a truly great setting, as well as being perfect inside, it also had a terrace area overlooking the port of Sorrento and Mount Vesuvius in the background.

phillips_185.jpg

The Cloisters at the Church is an open top area, well lit and perfect for the wedding photography. Vicky and Tim chose myself and RT Weddings to photograph their wedding day as they wanted an all day coverage and really liked my style. Having looked at the photography packages on offer in Italy, which all seemed to be very limited on coverage, package and time, as well as being quite expensive, made their decision to ask me and I am so very glad they did.

phillips_159.jpg phillips_193.jpg phillips_229.jpg phillips_238.jpg

The weather on the day of the wedding was sunny with some cloud, just perfect for the photography. I was very pleased as it had been raining the day before and all the locations were outdoors!

phillips_258.jpg phillips_279.jpg phillips_289.jpg phillips_297.jpg

The wedding party was 18 people which made for a much more intimate set of photographs and we did have some fun with the group shots and portraits.

phillips_310.jpg

After the ceremony we all headed off through the town on foot towards the restaurant for the wedding breakfast, great for some action shots.

phillips_366.jpg

The wedding breakfast was held at a lovely restaurant called Ristorante ‘o Parrucchiano which from the outside looked quite small, but was deceivingly large, with a couple of huge outdoor areas all covered with lemon and lime trees and vines. The wedding breakfast was in a smaller citrus garden and was separate from the public area.

phillips_368.jpg phillips_373.jpg phillips_393.jpg phillips_462.jpg

We left the restaurant after a fantastic meal and of course not forgetting the speeches, walking back through the town. We went to another restaurant where the evening reception took place called Circolo Dei Forestieri (Foreigner’s Club). As I didn’t have my mobile studio with me we did the portraits using the see view and Mount Vesuvius as the backdrop.

phillips_567.jpg phillips_568.jpg phillips_572.jpg phillips_583.jpg

I had an amazing trip to Sorrento and really enjoyed photographing Vicky and Tim’s wedding for them. If you would like me to photograph your wedding, home or abroad, please give me a call or visit my website for more information.
