The Booking Season

April 13, 2008 on 10:00 am | In My Wedding Advice |

I don’t know about you, but I am always a little anxious during the summer months as wedding bookings are sparse and as we all know on the decline a little each year. But as always, we run into August and early September and sure enough all the advertising, marketing and word of mouth starts to rub off! Phew!

The wedding booking season usually starts around September and continues until around March or even April and basically is the time to get all of your bookings in for the following year (and even some for the season after, as some do book well in advance…). At present I advertise all year round but currently have a dilema… would it make more sense to just advertise around the booking season which would save some hard earned pennies? I am not so sure… as I know that brides are very curious creatures who are constantly cutting out adverts from wedding magazines and storing them in special wedding planner files so that when they come to book suppliers the research has all been completed… as a man I cant relate to that :)

I am also trying wedding fairs for the first time this year. Until now I have relied on magazine, web and word of mouth as a form of advertising, and don’t get me wrong, it works… but I have also heard from associates that wedding fairs are a great way to meet potential clients face to face and obtain potential leads. So I’m taking the plunge, and these days they are not cheap to exhibit, so a bit of a gamble too.

My postings of late have been a bit sparse as I have been very pre-occupied with taking weddings and fulfiling orders. I will try and utilise this a little more over the coming months and air my opinions and thoughts…
